Talk to each other, begin to understand each other, begin to care about each other.

"God is Disappointed in You."

This blog post is an invitation. I want to learn about the thing you love that you don’t get a chance to talk about. I want to see your collection of magnets. I want to hear about the culture of competitive bagpiping. I want to learn about the cultural history of teeth. (none of those are real, but I’m willing to be proven wrong). I want to know what your thing is.

My two options are: 1) Barrel through the trespasses/trespass against us folks or 2) Leave a lengthy pause after I say debts and leave all the debts folks wondering if I fell asleep on the job.

The church is many things, but I submit that this is an important way that we can define church – a place where people feel comfortable not knowing something.

But there was one person who I think about more often than almost anyone else from that time in my life.

If then God gave them the same gift that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could hinder God?

These photos exist without any particular theme, but they spoke to me today of what is growing, changing, and living at TCPC today.

They wanted him gone, so they arrested him. His arrest was not evidence of his guilt, but that doesn’t matter when powerful people want to have their way.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

In a time of hopelessness, they spoke of hope. They spoke of the ways that God’s presence remains and promises a future.

We will not live in a just or healthy society if we remove any meaningful checks on ambition. This is our legacy, and it is in danger.

Being a pastor can be a weird gig, and I sometimes forget that not everyone can say, “Meditating on the fact of death” is part of their job.

That’s a lot of dining-room sets, golf clubs, exotic trips, and NeEeEeEeEw CAAAAAAARS!
