Ecclesiastes 3:1 “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”
We have been a very lucky church over the past 20 years.
There is a season for everything, and so it is with joy and hope that we are saying goodbye to Peggy Baker here at Twelve Corners Presbyterian Church. Peggy Baker has been the Financial and Building Use Administrator at Twelve Corners Presbyterian Church for all that time. Over the past year and a half, I have turned to Peggy on so many occasions. In her time with us, she’s shown us to be a competent professional, someone who could be counted on to do the job and to do it well. I’ve not had any doubts that any task on Peggy’s plate would be done promptly and completely. Working at a church, I can’t tell you how important this is. Church finances are complicated, there are so many different acronyms for the denomination, there are so many different regulations around being a church, there are so many complexities that go unnoticed until they go wrong. I can’t tell you what a comfort it is to know that the church’s resources were in good hands.
But that’s not the main reason why we’ve been lucky for the past 20 years.
Peggy Baker is a kind-hearted person who brings warmth with her wherever she goes. This is the most important thing about working in a church. It’s not required for a financial administrator to do anything but to administer finances. But with Peggy, she built relationships with her colleagues and members of the church. There are so many people here today and who have been here in the past who have had their lives improved by knowing Peggy.
For Peggy, this is the prayer of our congregation:
3 John 1:2 “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul.
And for this congregation, as we move into a new season of our lives together, it is a season to follow the apostle Paul:
Philippians 4:5-7 “Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
We give thanks for the blessings we’ve been given and give thanks for the new life to come.
Peace,
Rev. Jeff Fox-Kline
